I think "Phulbehry" is the name of vitiligo as this word often use in Urdu and Punjab another word "Burs" is also take as vitiligo in South asia.

"With an increasing number of Gujaratis at risk of Vitiligo/leukoderma, a chronic skin disorder, Biochemistry experts at the M S University (MSU) are set to conduct a three-year research to explore why this disease has the maximum prevalence in the state.

Latest figures show that every eighth person in 100 Gujaratis is prone to Vitiligo skin disorder, which is primarily caused by genetic or hereditary factors.

The Delhi-based Department of Biotechnology (DBT), which comes under the Ministry of Science and Technology, will soon sanction a fund of close to Rs 50 lakh to the MSUs’ Biochemistry department for the study.

The aim of the research is to discover those minute alterations in the genetic code of people’s hereditary material that is responsible for triggering this disease only in Gujaratis.

The sample size of the project will be around 300 from across the state. In addition, the department will tie up with important hospitals where criteria such as age, s*x, marital status and site of onset of the disease, number of lesions, size and shape of the lesions, associated symptoms, family as well as personal history will be kept in mind during the research.

Prof Rasheedunnisa Begum from the Biochemistry department said: “So far, we have found that Vitiligo is more prevalent in the Gujarati population irrespective of their s*x and economical back ground.”

The professor added: “Through this research, we want to spot those small nucleotides (genetic codes), which play a key role in actuating this disease in Gujaratis.”

Symptoms of Vitiligo are white patches on the skin, or golden brown patches on mucous membranes and graying of hair and sun sensitivity"
