  1. It's supposed to be a way to fill important jobs with qualified people.

In practice, it's a way for companies to get cheap labor by lying to overseas contractors and hiring them at sub-standard wages.

  2. The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa in the United States under the Immigration & Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H). It allows U.S. employers to employ foreign guest workers employed in specialty occupations. The regulations define a “specialty occupation” as requiring theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor including, but not limited to, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, medicine and health, education, law, accounting, business specialties, theology, and the arts, and requiring the attainment of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent as a minimum. Likewise, the foreign worker must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and state licensure, if required to practice in that field. H-1B work-authorization is strictly limited to employment by the sponsoring employer.

  3. An H1b. Visa Allows companies to import workers from places like India who will work for  wages far below the market rate. This keeps wages down for the American collage grads. H1b program has been abused by companies that are supposed to hire for highly skilled jobs that are hard to fill with Americans who are to have first consideration. Instead these greedy b******s are hiring cleaning ladies and assembly line workers just so they dont have to provide insurance or even min.wage. This program has turned into just another "Gimme" for the rich compliments of Bush & Co.
