  1. Its to connect a HDMI compliant source into it, as in a blu ray player, game console or reciever ect.  


  2. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. An HDMI cable will give you the best picture possible for your DVD player, gaming system, etc. It is just like a Composite red, white, and yellow RCA cable, but HDMI is high quality, and Composite is not.

  3. It connects a newer DVD player, Blu-Ray player, and/or other newer components to your TV.  Unlike in the past where you had to use one cable for video and 2 for sound (left and right), with HDMI, you only need to use one cable.  It carries the digital picture and sound from your device to your TV.
