  1. heavenly!

  2. There is plenty fo snow in parts of California!!! The ski areas in California are in the Lake Tahoe area on the Nevada state line which is where Heavenly is located. Squaw Valley is close by & this was an Olympic Ski site yrs. ago. Kirkwood is also an excellent ski area in this region. There is one further south then Lake Tahoe & it's called Mammouth.

It depends on where you live & how far you want to travel. All of these areas are in the Sierra Mountain range & are close to Nevada. Some of these areas are just as good as the ski areas in the Rocky Mountains {Utah, Colorado, Wyoming & Idaho}. They get plenty of snow & have long seasons. If you want more details, check on the internet & search Lake Tahoe snow skiing & they will have quite a few websites for you with all the details of the various ski areas, resorts, hotels, transportation, rentals, lift tickets, lessons & mountain statistics.

You can't go wrong at Heavenly so good luck & enjoy your trip. I've been an expert skier for 35 yrs. & I own a ski travel agency & it's my opinion that Heavenly is one of the best ski areas in North America. It has a huge vertical drop, plenty of lifts & one the largest areas in skiable acres.

In fact, you can ski down both sides of the mountain. You can ski into California or Nevada & you'll love the view of Lake Tahoe while you're skiing or riding up the lift. I would take a camera. Have Fun!!!!

  3. there is snow there. you'll have a great time. any resort that has signs that say "to california, down 2 towers the turn right" has got to be cool. just read your signs and stay on trail. Heavenly has a few places that you can be having the best time, then you realize you just skied into some sort of hole you gotta climb back out of.

  4. I have skied Heavenly about 40 or so times. Skiing the Sierra Range is a truly magnificent experience. I personally like Squaw or Kirkwood better than Heavenly, but I'm also a much more experienced skier.

You will have a blast at heavenly as a new skier.  The views of the lake are incredible and the temperature is generally warmer than the mountains of Colorado or Vermont, for example.

The only thing is, it's crowded (which can be a pain if you are trying to learn how to ski and avoid people at the same time).

If you feel confident, I'd advise getting OFF of the green runs and going to a more challenging run to avoid the "gapers".

The trees are spaced out at heavenly, so you can get some great glade runs if you have confidence in your turning ability.

If the weather on the California-side of the mountain is bad, try the Nevada side of the mountain. Often, there are different weather patterns on either face (one could be white-out and the other could have better visibility).

Stay off of the run called "The Face" (California side) as a newbie, as much as possible.

Reno, and the South Lake Tahoe area are getting beat with snow as we speak, so the terrain should be great.

Make sure you stop at the Sky Deck!

    Have fun!

  5. Heavenly is More expensive than the other ski resorts at lake tahoe and park city but it has a few great runs

  6. Huge.....lots of intermediate terrain. Don't neglect the backside ,its easy to miss for newbies.  Bunny Buster and Mr. Creamjeans for a challenge and memorable view. Showoff runs for dining guests, visible from deck. Check out Kirkwood....my favorite

  7. its a nice resort, not quite the best skiing out west but still a very fun place to ski.  there def is snow,, they mountain peaks have snow from oct-april normally,, even if it is 60 degrees down by the lake.
