What is Hummus?

Hi. Since becoming a vegetarian, I've found that hummus is a better alternative to fatty ranch, but I have no idea what exactly hummus is. What does it taste like? Where can you buy a good quality of hummus for school lunches? What goes best with hummus? Thank you. :)

  1. Hummus is chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice.

The best hummus is found at a decent Middle Eastern restaurant made fresh in-house.

If you buy hummus at a supermarket, you are most likely buying pointless c**p. The same goes for the pita bread. If you must, the best brand that I've tries is Sabra. Everything else in stores pisses me off ever since I've had real hummus from a restaurant.

  2. I agree with Krister that any quality hummus is made fresh by the pros that have been doing so for generations. I also agree with his recommendation on the store brand!
