  1. A usually white powder made from animal fats that have been processed via hydrolysis (adding water which disrupts the cell walls causing them to break down) and then speed drying.

    It is supposed to add flavor to processed meat products.

I am a former chef and now a vegetarian, and the second girl is right, they also dry and dehydrate meat and do the same, it is found in soup bases, soup mixes the fat is fine but the meat protein adds the flavour to the soup cubes and pastes in the grocerystore, and things like the process meats used in some chain restaurants it is also used as a binder and flavour enhancer.

    Not something most people would eat if they knew what was in that BBQ roast beef sandwich from that famous chain restaurant???
