  1. try going to the shelter and let the whole family choose one.

Be sure you have a nice crate for him to sleep in a night and a fenced yard for him to play in.  Dogs should not be chained or left outside all day or night.

  2. Boxers.  They are the most kind dog I have seen around children.  We Had our boxer for 2 years before our child came and she has done excellent with her.  My 2 year old is very rough with the dog and the dog takes it.  She is also very protective of my daughter.  The dog blocks her with her body from the door when the door bell rings and sleeps outside her room when she is sick.  The dog also plays very gentle when our daughter is around compared to if she is not.  I would never get another breed to be around my child.

  3. whatever the older ones want, most likely if any of them will help take care of it would be them or you will....if they feel more involved they are more likely to help care and clean up after it. I think a dog would be a great addition to your family. Congrats on new baby

  4. Labs are a great family dog to have.  But they're a large breed so if it's going to be an inside dog and you have a small house, you may want to do some research.  Also, whatever breed you decide, I really recommend going through a rescue group.  With newborns on the way, i can't imagine that leaves you much time to train a puppy.  Generally dogs that come from a rescue group have already been house trained, have had obedience training plus the dogs foster parent can tell you the temperment of the dog and whether or not it would be suitable for your family.  Good luck!!

  5. A s**z-tu

My family has one, and she is small, good with kids, and doesn't shed.

  6. Larger dogs seem to be more patient.

  7. None.  You have your hands full with kids.

Seriously.  I would not recommend a dog.  Sure everyone would want one and think it's cute....blah, blah, blah.  Then what happens in a month when the novelty wears off?

    Do not get a dog.

  8. Do the research...check which dogs get along with sall children as well as adults and which ones are good with large families.  My advice since you have an infant would be to get a puppy since an older dog or one that has been "rescued" might not like to be grabbed and poked and prodded the way babies do and might bite the baby.  A puppy will grow up being used to such behavior and will learn how to get away and hide if need be.

  9. a beagle, theyre cute and kis friendly, theyre very calm, but yet very protective and playful. they dont grow much but they grow enough....check some pics out.

i love these dogs, im getting one for my 13 month old!

  10. dashchunds (weenie dog)  these dogs are amazing with kids.

i have one and my parents have one.... and they just woller these dogs! they sit on em, pull their ears, and hair... the dogs dont make a snap / growl / NOTHING...

they are very protective of their family as well.

  11. I am a big fan of Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers.  They are great with children...very patient and loyal.  I have heard Labradoodles have the demeanor of a Lab and they do not shed like a Poodle.

It sounds like you will be busy with newborn twins??  If you are certain some of the other family members can assist in training a puppy, then it will be a lot of fun for everyone.  If you will be doing the majority of the dog training, you may want to put it on hold.  Puppies are a lot of work and are almost like having a newborn!!

Good Luck to you and your growing family! : )

  12. beagles

  13. beagles are the nicest dogs. they are just the right size for kids.ive never seen a mean beagle.
