Imperialsim is the spreading of the Industrial Revolution thoughout the world, by force and or peacefully. strong Countries started taking over countries that were weak or didn't want to conform and take their natural resoures to make their own country richer and richer. One country that was taken ove is Africa the rulers of te differnt countries that took these places over could not decide on boundries so Belgium invited evryone who had taken territory of the country everyone except the Africans, so they all came to Belgium sat at a round table and litteraly devided Africa up among them. Belgium go the most sinnce this Division process was there Idea. The african natives were then turned in to "slaves" and were denied human rights

Imperialism is the domination of one culture, nation or idea over others.

it was originally a Latin term meant to indicate military conquest and an emperor, or imperitor was the commander of a roman army. roman legionaries would sometimes declare their commander impirator. in the early times of Rome this was a simple statement of affection but later it was viewed as treasonable by the actual emperor.

for most of human history imperialism has been linked to military conquest but since the industrial revolution and the massive surplus production that it enabled rich industrial nations have been able to swamp less fortunate nations with their products. this led to rich nations being able to dominate poor nations economic and political institutions.

today some businesses have turnovers bigger than many countries.

western nations have been accused of imperialism and westernization of other cultures and this is what is mostly at the heart of the conflict in the middle east.

The culture of less well developed nations become "infected" by western ideas and conservative factions feel threatened in them.

it doesn't only have to effect poor countries. Anglo American imperialism is often decried in France where many feel the french culture and language is threatened by growing English and American influence
