    In all seriosity ...  Iodine is a solid.  The most common form of iodine purchased for use in the laboratory is a bottle of small flat flakes (for lack of a better word) that are maybe half a centimeter or less in diameter.  The flakes are produced by the deposition of solid I2 after purification by sublimation.
