I currently live in the States but I might be visiting Ireland soon and If I enjoy it as much as I hope to I may make it a permanent thing. I need to know about the laws and rules of the place first though. Can anyone help? A website would be great. A SPECIFIC site would be great.

  1. The point about driving on the left side of the road is very important.  Also, we don't have Police or cops.  They are called Guards, or Gardai (Gar-dee) a bit like what you have in France or Spain.  We call the restroom a toilet, waiting staff in restaurants are rarely tipped, although if they do provide good service you can tip them if you want.  Drug stores are called chemists or pharmacies and don't call anyone ma'am as it isn't used in this country, just say excuse me, I think you dropped this.

  2. Remember to drive on the other side of the road in Ireland. It gets a bit tricky if you don't. Don't rob any banks either. The cops might catch you. Bring an umbrella ... its raining here and it just might not stop.

  3. This site has someone useful information on moving to Ireland for non-Irish citizens
