  5. Italy has earned a reputation as one of the most beautiful and romantic countries in Europe. You can be throwing coins in the Trevi Fountain, feeding the pigeons in St. Mark’s Square, or strolling the lush, green vineyards of the Tuscan countryside. Italy is truly a multi-faceted vacation destination. In adventurous Italy, you can explore the country’s wilder side. Thanks to Italy’s varied terrain, adventure vacationers can enjoy a variety of active pursuits. A visit to the island of Sardinia, for some of the best diving in the world. While you’re there, stop at one of the island’s quaint fishing villages and buy the fresh catch-of-the-day from a local merchant.

If you prefer the mountains to the sea, you could be slushing down the mountains or donning a pair of snowshoes in the magnificent Dolomites. Stay in a chalet in one of the storybook villages high in the Alpine mountains.

In historic Italy, sightseeing Rome is a must. In the capital city, you could see world famous sites, like the Forum, the Colisseum, and the Vatican. In Milan, you can take in an opera at La Scala or see the “real” Last Supper at the Church of Santa Maria della Grazie.

Want to explore artsy Italy? Then sightseeing Florence should be on your itinerary. The gateway to Tuscany, Italy  includes a stop in Florence will take guests to opulent museums, ornate churches, and much more.

Would you prefer to spend your time in romantic Italy? Then head to the land of canals for some Venice sightseeing. In this unique city, you’ll travel by vaporetti through the waters of time as you explore places like the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica, the Academy Gallery, and the Bridge of Sighs.

Festivals abound in beautiful, vibrant Italy so there’s always a party to enjoy! You could attend the commemoration of Good Friday in Grassina, Carnavale in Viareggio, the Feast of St. John in Florence, or the Barcolana Autumn Cup sailboat race in Trieste. Or perhaps a small town harvest festival in Tuscany, an annual Christmas market in Calabria, or a downhill race in Torino.

Wherever you travel in Italy, no matter the season of the year, you can be sure that the sights will be breathtaking, the scenery awesome, and the people friendly and eager to welcome you ....... = )
