  1. light-(N) ライト (raito), 明り (akari [illumination]), 光 (hikari [natural light]), (ADJ) 明るい (akarui [bright])

    dark- (N) 暗闇 (kurayami [absence of light]), 夕暮れ (yuugure [nightfall])

    (ADJ) 暗い (kurai [having no light]), 黒っぽい (kuroppoi [blackish]).

  2. i think

    hikari = light (光)

    higure or yami = dark (日暮れ) or (闇)

    But if you want the color dark? It's kurai.

    And for the meaning "it gets dark" it's hi ga kuremasu.

  3. light

    明るい(akarui) - adjective = bright

    光(hikari) - noun ; as in "light of the sun"

    dark

    暗い(kurai) - adjective

    闇(yami) - noun ; as in "fear of the dark"

  4. I guess it has two ways to say in Japanese.

    Its "Meian" or "Hikari to Yami".
