What is Job/Work seasons?

Question

I went to apply to several jobs and some of them told me that they will be calling people when the next season starts...

What do they mean by that and when will it be? I need good info please.

I'm not a hundred percent sure what they meant, but I worked at a store and they hired seasonal people to come in for the holidays.  They came from like early November till after Christmas.

They are trying to be nice but they are not being honest.  They are saying "We aren't going to hire you."/
