My husband and I are going to Mexico City July 24-30. Would like to be prepared as to clothing requirements for Mexico City weather. We will be going to the Guadalupe Shrine at La Villa, Teotihuacan, Xochimilco, etc.

  1. Very very rainy in the afternoons, with pleasant temperature during the day. As mentioned, bring light jackets, folding umbrellas and waterproof hats. These will also be useful since you will be touring, and sunshine can be strong during the day. Bring sunglasses and sunscreen, and comfortable, non-skid footwear. Enjoy your trip!

  2. July is a warm month in Mexico City, average 75 degrees, very pleasant.  Some rain on and off.  It cools down a bit during the evenings so it is a good idea to bring a sweater, a very light jacket or a pashmina.  All the places you mention require comfortable foot wear.  And, since you will be to Xochimilco, you may want to visit "La Noria" near by, Hacienda-museum that houses the largest collection of Diego Rivera's, including his first and last paintings and some of Frida Kahlo's most famous works.  Well worth it.  The Hacienda is gorgeous and was built on the grounds that belonged to the last Xochimilcan emperor.  You may also see the Xolosquincles, rare hairless Mexican dogs running about the grounds of the hacienda.  The dogs because Diego used to own a few and there is even a collection of ancient terra cota Xolosquincles inside the museum.

    Have fun.

  3. I live in Mexico and it's very rainy in July. You might want to bring a light jacket for the early mornings and the evenings. I hope you have a great trip!

  4. Personally, I don't know why people are saying you need to bring light jackets and it's a cooler month.  I live about two hours from Guadalajara and it is HOT, 90's everyday.  It does cool off some in the evenings but not enough to need a jacket.  The evenings and night are the only times I enjoy the temperature.  But maybe I'm just more used to the cooler temperatures and that's why I like them more.
