  1. It was intended as a day to honor the men and women that work to build this country, the workers. Funny thing though, the only people I see working on Labor Day are the workers, management always takes the day off.


  2. It was first celebrated in the 1880's and was meant to honor the workers who labored to build this country.  It used to be a bigger celebration with a lot of parades and speeches.  Mostly now it just signals the end of summer for most of us.
