I recently watched Ichi the Killer and Audition, I have seen one or two of his films 10 years ago on TV but I cant remember which ones. I am looking for his best films. Is any one a fan of his films and can recommend your favorite as I cant get all of them at once?

  1. His best film isn't even a horror. It's called The Bird People in China.

Mr Miike is such a prolific director you're gonna have a bit of trouble finding them all. (5 or 6 movies a year). Try out crunchyroll.com (the asian youtube) as they have a fair chunk of his work there.

Hehe someone beat me to Imprint - easily his best horror. He has actually made many more gangster flicks than horrors - the best of those is Shinjuku Triad Society.

  2. Gozu or Visitor Q. They are both amazing. Gozu is about a gangster who kills his brother and then the body dissapears. Then this woman turns up who he likes but she says she is his brother. Then he hears voices coming from her stomach ha ha ha. Visitor Q is about a weird guy who moves in with this dysfunctional family i.e. the dad has premature ejaculation and can only last when shagging dead women, he shags his prostitute daughter, the mums a prostitute drug addict who gets beat up by son. Then this new guest helps them all and and bring them all back together. You can watch some of his best films here.

    Masters of Horror - http://joox.net/cat/2/id/9330

  3. My favourite is one you might not have heard of...it's a short movie called Imprint which was made for a TV series called Masters of Horror.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0757061/  The series aired on Scream TV for two seasons.  13 famous horror directors were given carte blanche to direct a 75 minute horror movie of their choosing.  They had no restrictions.  Takeshi Miike's movie was so extreme, they could not air it on tv.  It was pulled at the last minute and was only released on DVD.  Rent it or buy it...it's worth it!

  4. Audition
