What is Mackay like? Also Is it safe to?

What is Mackay like?

I live in Brisbane so any comparisons to Brisbane would be good to as that may help me understand/know more.

Also - is it a safe place?

mackay is the gateway to the whitsundays .

as a city it is nowhere near a " brisbane " but it does have it's moments of ' madness' when it comes to someone not abiding by the law . ( usually after 3.am ) and prdominantly in the city heart .

but there is a lot more to mackay ( more good than bad ) it is one of the fastest growing areas but still has it's identity .

you can drive up to where i ive in airlie beach ( about 2 hours ) and the same ' moving with the times ' is happening .

but to answer your question properly --- mackay is a lovely tropical city going places

and it indeed is safe --- and we welcome anyone and everyone because the whole whitsunday region compliments itself .

I have family in Mackay. I think its a great place =) The main street and surrounds are really nice and I thought the weather was great when I went. Its large enough to satisfy most peoples needs but small enough so that its still a town. I was only there for a few days but from what i could tell it was full of friendly people. Its also quite an industrial town but there is no shortage of things to see. We also went to a restraunt that was on the side of a cliff amoungst heaps of trees that over looked the ocean. Magnificent
