Question:

What is Maryland state law on highbeams/brights?

I understand that not everyone on here is from Maryland, or for that matter the US, but...

What is state law for when you can have your highbeams on? Is it illegal to have your brights on if there's a car in front of you? If not, how far away does the car in front of you have to be to turn them on? Or is not turning them on when a car is in front of you just being polite?

If there isn't any law on this, how do you personally rule the use of highbeams? (i.e., turning them off when another car approaches, not turning them on when ANY other car is in sight)

Thanks!

  1. I could not find any laws for this but I did find this and hope it helps.........

The high beams must be used whenever persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly seem at a distance of 1,000 feet.
