Having lived in the UK for 15 years i suspect you are talking about "Mashed Potato". It basically means a potato that has been peeled and boiled and then mashed. Very popular dish with different meats.

Peel and boil potatoes til done, then add a large k**b of butter or margarine and some milk then mash mash mash with a masher. Add some gravy on the top then eat.
