The Republican party platform is based on as little government control over the economy as possible and lower taxes.  They also are anti-g*y marriages because of 'morality' arguments.  Republicans strongly oppose abortion.  They support religion in politics and the right to cite religion in the secular world.  They support the continue of the iraq surge, drilling for oil in alaska along with finding alternative fuels, and for securing our border.  Republicans also believe the government shouldn't worry about global warming, etc.

However, McCain differs from Republicans on a good few things.  Many Republicans criticize him for this.
