  1. i don't know. it obviously hasn't worked this year for him, as he is having his worst season to date.

I think I know what you are talking about....does he look at something than quickly divert his attention back to the pitcher....if that is it then a lot of players do that...I know Derek Lee and Kosuke Fukudome do it so they can focus of the pitcher...it makes sure that their entire focus is on the pitcher  

  3. the sky. that way when he looks back to the pitcher he can locate the ball better when its thrown.

    For real, he is probably looking for the curveball. He's a feast or famine type of hitter.  Ks a lot, hits a lotta homers and walks a lot.  A cheaper version of adam dunn.
