I don't know about Ottawa, i was in oakland county jail.  I would imagine though that most are alike.  The first few days that you are in any michigan jail you are in a more secure area.  They have to classify you, before they do that you are locked in your cell for most of the day.  After they classify you, which means to detemine your security level, they move you to another area with other inmates of the same security level.  You are out of your cell more often then.  The food is horrible, and sometimes you can't identify what you are eating, seriously, the place is dirty, they usually allow you to have cleaning supplies to clean your room.  Always clean your mat before sleeping on it.  A bacterial infection called MRSA is all over the jails and it can be deadly.  Wash your mat, don't eat or drink after others, stay away from the fights, don't give the deputy a hard time because if you do that too much they will put you in isolation, that is PURE h**l.  I was there for 3 days over something stupid.  Have people put money in your inmate account so you can buy stuff on the jail store list.  Email me if you need more advice.
