PAN - stands for permanent account number, This is issued by income tax department.

This is required by most of people who have income, who needs to pay tax or get their tax deductions and for various other purposes like shares, buying vehicles, business etc.

Most of companies ask their employees to apply and get their pan card at the earliest, as it is required .

How to apply for a PAN? Offline

PAN application should be made only on Form 49A.
