What is PMS called for Squirrels?

Title says it.

PMS as in a girls Period.

When a Squirrel gets PMS, is there an different name? Or is it just called PMS?

Squirrels don't get PMS. They only mate in the winter or very early spring, during which time they have a "mating chase" ritual they do, but no PMS regularly like humans.

I believe it is called the oestrous cycle, as opposed to the menstrual cycle.

As was stated earlier PMS stands for Pre-Menstrual Syndrome, and isn't the period itself.

PMS is not when a girl has her period. It's the mood swings and stuff some girls get. It's actually really rare to have PMS.

So, I guess you would be asking what it's called when a squirrel has their menstrual cycle.

Squirrels don't get PMS or periods. Only humans and some of the apes are unfortunate enough to go through that particular form of annoyance.

A period happens because the woman has not become pregnant during the previous month, and so the lining of the uterus is shed. When animals don't become pregnant during their cycle, they don't shed the lining of their uterus the way humans do. Instead, the lining of the uterus is reabsorbed by the body.

Dogs bleed when they are on heat, and this is often mistaken as being a period, but it is not. When a dog is on heat, that actually corresponds to the time a woman is ovulating, not having a period. Just because blood is involved in both, a lot of people think it is the same thing.

As for PMS, (Premenstrual Syndrome), that is to do with problems caused by hormonal changes in womens' bodies in the time leading up to their period. Not all women suffer from it, but many get some of the symptoms.
