What is POPULISM?? ?

I am very confused! I have a project due soon on populism and i can't find an uncomplicated definition!

I need to know the definition, origins and causes for the "populist movement", the major events and issues, and the impact/results.

Does anyone know what this is??

what populism does is basicly put the power in the hands of the little man and not the heads of the nation. it is a prety diverse and broad term..and doesn't really fit in a box. that's why people dont use it...sorry i dont know about the movement...just google it..and use wikipedia's resources.
