What is PSEUDO LIKELIHOOD?

or the Log pseudo likelihood. I just checked it out on wikepedia and i still dont understand how or why it's useful? WHAT does it EXPLAIN??

In simple "human" language it one of methods how to find-out what type of distribution selected data-set represents, basic-level school usually deals with normal distribution of values, but in reality there is a much more beyond it. So pseudo likelihood method measures degree of approximation to distribution pattern.
