In reality you'll probably be doing a lot of that as well as cutting, gluing, helping with art projects etc.... mostly busy stuff for the kids. Maybe some reading aloud!

You assist the teacher with follow-up lessons ( that the teacher is responsible).  You help set up nutrition and outdoor play.  Remember teacher is responsible for planning all activities, you just carry them out.  You read to children, help at playtime, and learn through teacher's example as to how to deal with children and parents.  If the teacher is worth her salt, you'll be able to see very quickly how a positive approach with parents and children works best.  Follow teachers lead.

A teachers aide is responsible for helping out the teacher.  For example, daily activities, taking them to lunch, bathroom break, getting the little ones ready for nap time, etc.  Oh, and they are the ones who reads the stories to the children at story time.
