  1. Valid points here and good points.

Clint is a better quailifier, but this is not all the reason.

Sponsorship dollars are important and if Clint can bring the dollars to the  new team then put him in and get the sponsor.

  2. thatshow. What a great answer. I could not agree more.

  3. I don't know but I don't think they want a Kellogg's boy in the General Mills car.

  4. I've been trying to find some logic to this for the past month and I really have no clue. If he's taking Clint's points to give to Casey then it's pretty clear that it's because RC doesn't think he will be able to qualify in on his own. Which if thats the case then I don't know why would he sign him in the first place. No offense to Mears fans but I don't understand why he would take the chance of s******g up Clint's season next year for a driver who has yet to prove he is even able to be consistently competitive in the cup series.

  5. I guess they are pretty confident in Clint's qualifying & driving abilities to put himself into the top 35 next season. I think also since Clint was the 1st driver to put this team into victory lane (the #07 was the #30 at a point in time) he is hoping he could have that same success in his new ride.

Well as far as not just doing what most expected at put Casey in the #33 & start fresh with points it kinda makes sense once you look at what's coming from to what he was possibly going to.

    From:

    #5 Kellogg's Chevy

    To:

    #33 General Mills Chevy

Well as you said, if Casey "is c**p" then securing him in the top-35 next season & having a Chase contending team behind him doesn't seem like a bad idea & putting a driver who has proven himself into a new car to hopefully replicate those results isn't bad either.

(Personally I don't think Casey has been given much of opportunity in the last 4 to be 5 years to settle & grow with any one individual team. The #41 then the #42 then the #25 then the #5 and now the #07).

  6. Umm they're thinking Clint is a better qualifier?

  7. Childress is the owner, his decisions. Probably made a deal with Clint money wise about qualifying next year.

Bottom line-Why in the world did RCR sign Mears ??? I'd think it would be a better ride with Mike Skinner or Jeff Green.

  8. Why would anyone sign Mears?    He probably couldn't even get a school bus to school on time!!

  9. You're right, it's ridiculous.  I felt sorry for Kurt Busch earlier this year when Penske pulled that c**p on him (giving Sam Hornish his points), and I thought Childress had a little more class than that.  I don't think Casey Mears is "c**p"--I think he's Hendrick's equipment donkey--but Clint Bowyer has earned better treatment than he's getting.  It looks like he'll be in the Chase two years in a row, and I think that should count for something.  I also think it sucks for the 07 crew, because they were starting to click with Bowyer!

  10. RCR signed mears to run the 7 but will switch the 7s points to the 33 as it will be a brand new team

also the only reason mears is there is to get a team ready for richards grandson

  11. Richard must be sipping too much of his wine.

  12. I'm like you, I don't quite understand that either but I would think Richard knows what he's doing. He's certainly had great success in the past.

On another note, I sure do miss seeing #3.

  13. strategy

  14. Two reasons 1: They want to give the owner points to Mears. and 2: they dont want someone who just sponsored Kellogs sponsoring General Mills

  15. its not fair to clint and his team, splitting them apart and starting him over with a new team. but they did it because casey mears will have better luck with an established team, richard childress probaly thinks casey wouldnt be able to handle a new team that he has to qualify into every race.

  16. Well i read yesterday they might try to buy the points from DEI's Aric Almirola.
