  1. It is actually the center of the universe

  2. It is estimated that over 80 million people of Irish descent live outside Ireland, in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa and states of the Caribbean and continental Europe. This is 14 times more than the population of Ireland (including Northern Ireland) itself ! 3 million of these emigrants still hold Irish nationality.

Roughly 34 million Americans reported Irish ancestry in the 2000 US Census, which makes it the second largest ethnic group after the German Americans. The highest concentration of Irish Americans is in the North-East (New York and New England).

    Fun Fact:

The Irish consume in average 131.1 liters of beer per year - the 2nd highest per-capita consumption after the Czech Republic.

    Good luck with the project

    Later Edit

    To James G

Ireland is the most westerly point of Europe (inclusive of island landmasses).  To be pedantic and refer to a single part of the European area is irrelevant to the discussion!

  7. I'm from Ireland, yay. It's really a beautiful country. It has some of the most picturesque scenery in the whole wide world.Oh yeah,That's right.I'm talking about The burren in Co.Clare.A barren wasteland but my geography teacher would have said that it's 'a unique area'.but seriously Ireland lies in Western Europe, occupying five-sixths of the island of Ireland in the North Atlantic Ocean, west of Great Britain. It is NOT the most westerly in Europe. That honour belongs to Portugal. It's total area is around 70,000 sq km.Hey look it up,I'm not going to do your homework for you. It's slightly larger than West Virginia. It's climate is Temperate maritime,if I remember correctly. All i know is that it rains A LOT.But me complaining does not help you with your project, let me think.Ireland is modified by North Atlantic Current.Mild winters, cool summers. Two weeks of summer is all we get, usually in early june. It's terrain is mostly level to rolling interior plain surrounded by rugged hills and low mountains; sea cliffs on west coast. Natural resources include zinc, lead, natural gas, barite, copper, gypsum, limestone, dolomite, peat, silver but wind power will come into play in the future. We are surrounded by water.Newgrange in County Meath is a national treasure with it being one of the oldest free standing structures in the world if not the oldest. It's older than ancient greece by about 1500-2000 years.Newgrange was built in such a way that at dawn on the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice, a narrow beam of sunlight for a very short time illuminates the floor of the chamber at the end of the long passageway.I don't know if the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt are older or not.I would imagine it's pretty close maybe just a few hundred years.

    HA,take that Stonehenge.

Many Irish people emigrated to the United Kingdom, Australia and America with many many people having Irish blood.

The oldest rocks in Ireland, dated at around 2400 million years, are found in Co. Wexford, near the south-eastern coast. Geologists suggest that there is evidence in Kiltorcan in Co. Kilkenny that plant life, trees and the first forests were established as early as 375 million years ago.

There is a legend that St. Brendan of Kerry visited North America in the sixth century AD.

John Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the USA, was born in Massachusetts in 1917. The Kennedy family were descendants of Irish Catholics (Wexford) who migrated to America in the nineteenth century. The ancestors of US President Ronald Reagan came from Tipperary.Ireland is not a member of NATO.Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, and the twentieth-largest island in the world. It's name in Irish is Eirinn.Traditionally, Ireland is subdivided into four provinces: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster; and, in a system developed between the 13th and 17th centuries, 32 counties. Twenty-six of the counties are in the Republic of Ireland, and the remaining six (all in Ulster) are in Northern Ireland.I'm NOT listing thirty-two counties. That's all I can think of at the moment. But use the internet.

Lastly,we drink a lot and eat a lot of potatoes.I don't think that helps your project but knowing can't hurt.

  8. It has the oldest free-standing building on the world that is still intact. 5,000 years old called 'Newgrange'.

It has it's own sports that aren't really played anywhere else in the world-    Hurling and Gaelic football.

  9. I believe, but not sure, that Ireland has the highest ocean front cliffs in Europe " Slive League" in Donegal.

  10. more irish people live outside ireland than in it
