  2. RSS (Really Simple Syndication)

is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts.

An RSS document (which is called a "feed" or "web feed"

or "channel") contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays. ^_^

  3. Two ways...

    1) People who use RSS readers (either web-based or software on their computers) can get updates on your blog without having to visit the page all the time.

    2) You can use RSS to pull in data from another site. Again, two ways... (a) pull in data feeds from other sites to display on yours (in this case, your 360 page), and (b) on other sites and blogs, have your blog postings automatically appear. This can be a mixed blessing. Yes, you write it once, and it can appear in multiple places. BUT, if the search engines decide to flag your sites as having "duplicate content", then you may not even APPEAR in the search listings anymore, or have a very low ranking, meaning no one will FIND your writing.

  4. RSS is a standard format for syndicating content on the Internet. The content can be anything! Often information contained in an RSS feed is syndicated on other sites which expands its reach.

Website visitors love RSS because they choose which feeds they wish to subscribe to, if at any point they are unhapy with the content contained in the RSS feed they simply unsubscribe and no longer receive notification of feed updates.

RSS is really a win, win for both subscribers and publishers.

In order to get a better understanding of how RSS works download an RSS reader or use a web aggregator and subscribe to an RSS feed (they are usually indicated by a small orange icon).
