What is RU-486?

Question

what is it, how does it work, and how would it be related to neuroendocrinology.

my professor for behavioral neuroendocrinology mentioned it in class briefly in relation to how androgens, glucocorticoids, and progestins can sometimes bind to each others receptors. even if you don't know how it would relate to this, just simply how does RU-486 works would at least point me in the right direction. or what RU-486 is comprised of.

RU-486 is a progesterone antagonist, as I recall.

It is used as an abortifacient drug for birth control.  The Wikipedia entry looks accurate and pretty complete.

If that doesn't work, there are almost certainly papers in Pubmed.  If that doesn't work, try looking at places like Planned Parenthood that provide BC info.
