  2. a radioactive element, which has the symbol Ra and atomic number 88, Atomic Mass: 226.03amu. Radium is a member of the alkaline metals group.

It is used as a source of neutrons and makes lightning rods more effective.

  3. Its another word for AIDS.

  4. Radium (Ra) is a naturally occurring element. It has an atomic number of 88.

Due to the fact that it is naturally luminous, it used to be used on watch and clock faces to make them glow in the dark. However, as Marie Curie discovered, it is highly radioactive and it's not a good idea to be exposed to it for long periods of time so other substances are now used for these purposes.

I'm sorry but I have no idea why it would be a problem in London.

    Hope this helps.

  5. an element, radioactive

  6. Radium is a radioactive chemical element which has the symbol Ra and atomic number 88. Its appearance is almost pure white, but it readily oxidizes on exposure to air, turning black. Radium is an alkaline earth metal that is found in trace amounts in uranium ores. It is extremely radioactive. Its most stable isotope, 226Ra, has a half-life of 1602 years and decays into radon gas.

  7. Could you perhaps be thinking of radon?  radon can be a problem inside buildings-it is a radioactive gas that derives from the decay of uranium in the underlying rock, migrates upward like a nice gas should, and then can accumulate inside a building and cause potential health problems.
