  1. Crude oil has a very large spectrum of oils. The light oil is cooked off as gasoline . The heavier is kerosene or jet fuel . and what is left is like lube oil.


  2. Unrefined is almost straight out of the ground.  It still goes through some basic filtering but it is still what you had when you started.

    Refined is filtered and processed to to create commercial grade fuels.  Mogas (gasoline), diesel, JP4 and so forth
