What is Retorical Stradegy?

I am going to be going into English 3 and my summer assignment requires me to find the Retorical Stradegy in alot of quotes that i found what does that exactly mean? Anything will help Thanks. And Tuesdays with Morrie is the book.

  1. Rhetoric is the Greek term for using language to persuade.  It's basically the art of public speaking.

    Rhetorical Strategy is therefore a particular technique that a speaker uses to deliver the intended message.  Such strategies may include:

    - Analysis (breaking down a big issue into smaller components for study)

    - Narrative (telling a story)

    - Persuasion (informing the listener about a different point of view)

    I'd look specifically at 'straw opponent' about halfway through as I feel this is the most rhetorical but apparently all apply.
