  1. Taxpayer pomp.

  2. As a constitutional monarch, The Queen does not 'rule' the country, but fulfils important ceremonial and formal roles with respect to the Parliament of the United Kingdom, and the devolved assemblies of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Queen is also Fount of Justice, from whom justice in the United Kingdom derives, and has important relationships with the Armed Forces and the established Churches of England and Scotland.

The British taxpayer spends 62 pence per year for the Royal Family. How much does the US citizens have to pay for the US president and his wars? The French taxpayer has to spend nearly 50 per cent more for President Sarkozy and his royal court than the British for their real monarch. And there is less transparency than the Queen provides for everyone who wants to know where Her money comes from and how it is spent.

  3. I give up, what is the Royal Family good for?

  4. Charity work, Charity work, Charity work.

Promoting British goods and Britain in general around the world.

Assisting in the fostering of good relations between countries around the world and alleviating the threat of war between them by being a peaceful neutral presence.

And helping sell magazines with them on it because millions are still interested.

That's my take on the situation.

  5. Nothing, going out and looking pretty. The Queen is a b*tch.

  6. Nothing...

  7. very little. royal families are nothing but black holes for tax payer money (money that could go to more imporant things). it's mostly a joke.

  8. The British Royal family are anything BUT a drain on tax-payers. They are a tradition and an institution, and, when the Queen went on her visit to the US, many Americans commented on how much they liked and admired her.

Britain is very fortunate to still have a monarchy ~ they are very special.
