What is Russia's ambitions in the current Georgian war?

Russia has apparently launched an attack into Georgian territory itself. Or is that a lie?

Yes, the attack is real. Some people claim to renew the soviet union. But really it comes down to two factors.

1. They want control of the oil pipe-line

2. Georgia is a break-away of the former Soviet Union that was funded by the US. The US and Russia still consider one another enemies. Russia funded Ossetia, and now out right attacked partially in spite of the US.

Russia has already issued several threats to the US.

Russia feels nostalgic for the Soviet Union...

Georgia was part of the former Soviet Union, only because it was occupied in 1921 by the 11th army and every attempt to gain independence ended with suppress... For those who do not know, Georgia is one of the ancient countries in the world and in 12th century, when america was not even discovered yet, equality of men/women rights was recognized.

Russia would never allow his neighbor to become a member of NATO, as georgia is strategically important point. this is one reason. and of course the pipe-line. Nowadays Russia is dominant in this business and if the pipeline goes through georgia, Russia will lose its dominant position and chance to manipulate with it among the countries he is supplying.

Russia has launched an attack into georgian territory far from the conflict zone. This morning at 4:30 approximately, the capital city, Tbilisi was attaked, I heard the explosions, but have no information about the loss yet... From air attacks of yesterday and the day before it, we have hundreds of wounded and the exact number of dead is still undefined. Most of them civilians...

So make conclusion youselves, is Russia as innocent and fullfilling its peacekeeping mission as they say or just shameless agressor...

Georgia has 85 tanks and Russia 25,000 tanks. Make a guess.

The USA will get another quagmire, this time worse then anything before, if they get involved.
