What is Russia's current position on the U.N. Convention against torture?

  1. Does it matter?  They just killed an ex-kgb with a radio isotope ... a very tortuous death ....  so whatever their formal position is ..  can you trust it?


  2. the policy of the Russian Fed on torture is that of most of the world powers-- they are against it. Unfortunatly they are also huge fans of national sovreignty, which means that they stress that they want the right to do what they want within their borders. So I wouldn't put it past them to use the anti-torture stance so that they can save face in front of the other world powers. They are also a member of the human rights council, I hope this helps. If u need more info I suggest the Russian Fed website or CIA world factbook.
