What does SAT mean?

I see it heaps in the education area, but what does it mean?

Is it like NCEA exams?

SAT means scholastic aptitude test. it is an examination that determines your ability mainly in math, writing, and reading. It is a little bit over 4 hours long and it is devise up into critical reading passage, sentence completion and math and essays. Highest score is a 2400. most colleges expect students to score enough to meet the requirements for their acceptance. Ivy college are much more  complicated to get into because they need student with the best sat score. basically its like a college acceptance test except colleges also look at student's transcript and community service etc. some colleges don't need sat so it really depend on where u go.

It basically is a difficult test of your knowledge accumulated from courses you have taken throughout high school. If your scores are good, it can help you get into a really good college.
