I just downloaded Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome/index.html?hl=en&brand=CHMG&utm_source=en-hpp&utm_medium=hpp&utm_campaign=en) and it's an awesome browser. Super fast, super effecient, has only been released for a few days! Anyways, I download it and check out the settings. There is a box marked "SSL 2.0" (Computer-wide SSL settings). What is SSL 2.0? Will it speed up my browser? Will it slow it down?

All help is greatly appreciated.

  1. You want SSL to provide secure connections when needed to perform sensitive (banking, etc) transactions. Unless the browser's address bar starts with "https:" it won't be running.

Whan running, your browser's address bar will display "https" and SSL does slow down communications, but some form of security is necessary occasionally.

When your brower's address bar starts with "http", SSL is not running at that moment.
