Trying to be fair here, I think she was a Hail Mary play, a gutsy, risky move by the Republicans to shake up the electorate, and to get the Christian Right back on their side.  Christians were none too happy with McCain.

And I think it still might work for them.  I don't think many Christians even care if one of their own daughters is pregnant out of wedlock.  I don't think Democrats will be able to exploit this issue because Christian 'movement conservatives' in the US are . . . well, let's call it what it is. . .hypocrites.  Moral issues can only be used against Democrats.

I think the GOP is still in big trouble, though. I think they'll lose the White House this year and lose more seats in Congress.  The corruption, arrogance and downright incompetence of the Bush administration has done some serious damage to the party.  Which is why such a gutsy, high-risk move was necessary in the first place.

For me she's a great woman and a role model.  Finally a woman in politics who's ideas I agree with!
