  1. I'm year 8 so went through this

Basically, yes, there are different groups but there is also a large section that is just ordinary people and you will probably be one of them. Loads of people start school without any friends so there will be loads of people feeling the same thing. Best thing to do is be yourself and don't be afraid to just randomly start talking to someone. They'll probably be glad of it. Just RELAX!! And good luck =)

  2. There might be groups, but they are rarely so clearly defined (that's only in movies). Usually there are more general groups formed based simply by what classes, sports, or extracurricular activity people do.

Sports people know sports, musicians know musicians, etc and there can be overlap if they share classes and sit right next to each other.

It is best to be friends with everybody. It's hard work but you get a lot of benefits from it.

I know you are scared, but know that they people around you are scared too. Be the first to say "Hello, my name is " and you've probably made a friend just for taking the first step. After all, wouldn't you be friends with some that came up to and said "Hey man, what's up? I'm Joe or Jane." Some has shown interest in you and that feels good. Do that first, and people will like you for it.

Be friendly and observent. Always introduce yourself first but don't be pushy like a politician. Most people are too scared to do this. If you want to move on just, say you'll catch them later and go meet someone else.

In a group ask non-personal questions to begin with, Like what did you think of that class?, or what tv show they like, sports, or music etc.

When someone ask you a question about something you don't know about, it is a great oppourtunity to ask them to explain. This shows you are interested in what they have to say - even if you are not - and they will like you for it. You will start accumulating information and be iincluded in a lot of circles. Keep track of what people are interested in. Remember to keep confindences!

It's hard work in the beginning but it gets easier later.

Play your cards right and you will be the go-to guy, the guy who knows everyone, knows the parties, etc and these are the guys that usually gets elected to school offices simply because everyone knows you and votes for you.

So start now, when everyone is scared. By highschool people have already formed their group of firends and aren't ready for new ones until they get to college.

  3. There are a lot of people at secondary school and so people do have groups like emos and goths and chavs but honestly don't be scared about going to secondary school it means you are growing up. I felt just the same when i started high school but after a week of being there i had found friends and had really started to enjoy school! you'll find you fit in and are welcome but honest enjoy the first year cos then it just gets harder!

Good luck and dont worri!! =]

  4. I felt like that when I first went from my primary school where there was a big popularity problem, I was unpopular because I didn't like football and didn't cry for days when my team lost in a sports game. (really, a lot of the mega popular football stars of my year did that.)

Anyways, I went to  Secondary School feeling like you. There are different groups, and generally the chavs like to tease anyone else not in their group, and I say that with two nasty people in mind. But so what? YOU'LL GET LOADS OF FRIENDS, it just kinda happens, you know, just stay away from anyone you don't like and stick with your friends. Anyway, I find that most people in a group are only nasty if they are all together in a group.

    YOU'LL BE FINE!

    Hope I Helped!!

  5. first year of high schools not bad
