Singapore's birthday is the day we become independent back in 1965.

Our brief history.

(Hope I did not forget what my history teacher said when I in Secondary 2... year 1987.)

Before 1819 - here was a fishing village under a Sultan (malay king).

1819 - Raffles came, then become part of British.

(something like HKG before 1997 but less complicated)

Around and after WW2 - we are part of Malaya then got kicked out.

1965 - we decided to "take care" of ourselves.
