2. the universe seems accomodating of almost any purpose that can work within its mathematical rules; but probably the hardest thing to accept is that it may have no purpose at all. One might venture to say that irreversible processes can be take as heading towards something, in that case, the purpose of the universe might be towards greatest entropy or greatest amount of disordered states.
