Skype to Skype calls are always free, even if international. To call any non-Skype number, you pay. You top up a pre-paid account.

You can get a geographical number, but not for all towns. eg if you live in somewhere NEAR London your code may not be available, so you choose an 0208 or 0207 number.

basically making free phone calls over your broadband connection. you need to register and download there software to use it you also need a headset and microphone or skype telephone to make the calls with. as far as i know only calls to other skype numbers are free. landline calls are chargeable
