  1. "Sense of direction" is the easiest way to put it. It is your ability to place yourself within the context of a space.

Quick test: given a map, can you find your place where you are now on that map, find where you want to go, and get there without making a mistake or going in the wrong direction?  If you have to take an unexpected detour and can't check the map in hurry, do you end up where you wanted to be by "dead reckoning"?  Do you get lost all the time, or can you find your way around in a strange town?

How many times have you driven across country all by yourself, with just a map?  If you cannot even imagine yourself being able to do something like that, your spatial intelligence is low. Yet to someone who has a high spatial IQ, it's so easy that it is impossible to comprehend someone who simply cannot read a map!
