What ethics & morals are held by those following Sufism? Do they observe Ramadan?

  1. Sufis are spiritual in the mystical sense. They enter into trances by reciting the mantra 'la illaha illa allah' and enduring physically exhausting states to bring a mental/spiritual calmness. Sufis also do forms of Hindu meditation through devotion to the guru (called a sheikh).

    It would seem sufis have adopted aspects of eastern mysticism into the religion. Sufis say God is 'in everything', which is also a hindu concept.

    Sufi ethics and morals are probably essentially similar to mainstream Islam, however sufis have run into trouble with some mainstream muslims who consider sufis as having innovated to many un-Islamic practices into the religion.
