If you mean the Shadow the Pulp hero who was played on Radio by Orson Welles and in the movies by  Alec Baldwin, he was just a pulp hero who was influenced by everything from Talbot Mundy to H. Rider Haggard to A. Merritt to the detective heroes of Black Mask Magazine (such as Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett).  Now, Mundy,, though most people don't know this. was a theosophist, which means the Shadow was influenced by genuine legends of mystical powers.  But he wasn't a first.  Everything about him had a precedent, except being drawn by both Edd Cartier and Michael William Kaluta.
