What is UMA or VOIP calling?

I have a Blackberry Curve and it says UMA up the top right when i'm connected to my Wi-fi. I've heard something about calls being free and not using up your inclusive minutes etc when you're in a wi-fi zone and talking over the wi-fi connection but can anyone tell me more about this? How do i make these free calls and is it to landlines, mobiles etc?

  1. Voip means Voice-over-Internet protocol ! Calls are not Free But they are Very Cheap as compared to Others !
