What is V canyon?

A V canyon is basically one with two steep cliffs and a stream at the bottom, no valley floor like a U canyon.

Sacred Falls on the other side of Oahu from Honolulu is a place where a high V canyon meets a deeper V canyon. The waterfall is a stream falling from one to the other. This was pretty dangerous because of a flash flood hazard, and also because the cliffs were very steep.

On Mother's Day, 1999 part of the cliff wall sheared off, and the valley walls acted as a funnel, showering the hikers below with boulders and debris. 8 people were killed, 50 were injured, emergency response workers learned a lot of lessons, and the park was closed, propbably permanently.
