Question:

What is Write-protected?

A while ago, I saved (dragged out) the pictures from my digital camera to a folder in my USB jump drive. They were completely removed from the camera. I now copied the folder from the usb drive and have it saved on my desk top and trying to add it back into the camera folder and get a message saying, "Cannot create or replace NewYorkJune2008 ..(this is my folder name).. The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk."

I have no idea what this means. Does it mean my usb drive is write protected? If so how do I remove it so that the pictures can get back in the camera. I've checked properties, control panel & just about everywhere but there is no mention of write-protection anywhere on my computer. I have Windows XP. Any info is greatly appreciated.

  1. your usb drive has a sliding tab on it. It should have two positions, move it to the "unlock" position.
